By marshroutka (set-route minivan):

Departs from Tbilisi daily at 6 am

(be there at 5 to book your seat!)

from: outside Bavshta Samqaro (Children's World) dept. store, to the left of the railway station as you're facing it

Cost: 30 GEL

by Tbilisi-Zugdidi train:

Departs nightly from Tbilisi railway station, takes c. 8 hours

Get a bed in a 4-berth cabin

Cost: 11 GEL?

Then: marshroutka from Zugdidi-Mestia, c. 6 hours (you might have to wait quite a while to get one if you miss the early morning one)

Cost: 20 GEL
